DIY NAILS AT REFINERY29

Refinery29 is a great site, and they have recently published some DIY nail art tips and tricks. Like me you might want to do it at home yourself. I particularly love the graduated nail colour instructions (the second one down) which i am trying right now as a matter of fact. I was a bit heavy handed on the sponge dabbing section, but hopefully i'll get it right when i do my next hand... will post results.

"Directions: Apply the base color, and wait 'til dry. Pour a little bit of dark polish onto a hard, throwaway surface (we used a CD case) and dab a little bit at a time onto the foundation sponge. Using short, quick strokes, pat on the dark polish layer by layer, focusing on the ends of your nails. Before completely drying, use the topcoat to blend all the colors together. Voila! Day 1 of the POP UP SHOP!

So... today is the first pop-up shop of Ma-Nails, i'm open in Lock 7 bicycle cafe downstairs from my flat in Broadway market. Here are some of my design experiments from last week.


Peachy American apparel varnish with various designs in black, my fingers look particularly dry... need to moisturize!

CANDY COLOURED PASTELS

Pastel mint green with marshmellow pink splotches.

Light lilac

Nude pink with lilac half moons.

Lemon yellow with mint green mini polka dots.

Alternate colour pink and purple nails.

GREY DOT CHEVRONS

This is my most recent creation, its grey Nails Inc polish (2 layers) with clear undercoat and top coat.





Excuse the slight chips, i'm much better at doing it with my left rather than right hand... so this one is a bit shaky, i'm working on my ambidextrousism.
